Sick Kids charity cleared of misconduct in report PDF Print E-mail

THE charity behind the ill-fated New Pyjamas fundraising campaign for Edinburgh's Sick Kids hospital was today cleared by charity regulators of any misconduct.
The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) said it had found no evidence that the trustees of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation had failed in their responsibilities.

SPENDING on agency staff by public bodies across Scotland soared by millions of pounds in just one year, The Scotsman has learned.
Figures obtained by The Scotsman reveal nearly £160 million of taxpayers' cash was used to cover the public sector agency staff bill.

Charity buys North Carr lightship for £1 PDF Print E-mail

A marine charity has bought a historic lightship moored near the centre of Dundee for just £1.

Taymara said it now needed to raise £500,000 to restore the North Carr lightship, launched in Glasgow in 1933.

 

Trustee Bob Richmond said Taymara would use the ship as its headquarters and as a base to help rehabilitate youngsters with drug and alcohol problems.

'Good Samaritan' survey shows charitable giving trends PDF Print E-mail

A third of the world's population has given money to charity in the past month, the largest study ever carried out into global social conscience reveals today.

 

The "World Giving Index" used Gallup surveys of 195,000 people in 153 nations and asked people whether they had volunteered or given money or help in the last month. It also asked respondents to rank how happy they are with life.
